Maatrubhumi Controversy: Salman Khan की Film में China Angle पर क्यों छिड़ी Political Debate?

Salman Khan की upcoming film Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace एक बार फिर controversy के centre में है। Film को लेकर सवाल सिर्फ इसकी कहानी या release date को लेकर नहीं हैं, बल्कि अब debate इस बात पर है कि 2020 Galwan clash की कहानी को पर्दे पर दिखाते समय China को किस तरह portray किया गया है।

Film पहले Battle of Galwan के नाम से announce हुई थी। लेकिन 2026 में इसका title बदला गया, कहानी और treatment में बदलाव की खबरें सामने आईं और कई हिस्सों के reshoot की reports भी आईं। अब October में YouTuber Dhruv Rathee के एक नए allegation ने इस पूरे मामले को फिर political debate में ला दिया है।

हालांकि, यह ध्यान रखना जरूरी है कि political pressure के कारण reshoot हुआ, यह अभी एक allegation है, independently established fact नहीं।

Battle of Galwan से Maatrubhumi तक कैसे बदली Film?

Apoorva Lakhia के direction में बनी यह film शुरुआत में Battle of Galwan थी और 2020 के Galwan Valley clash की background पर आधारित थी।

Original teaser में Salman Khan को Indian Army officer की भूमिका में दिखाया गया था। कहानी का backdrop Eastern Ladakh में India-China military confrontation था। Galwan clash में 20 Indian soldiers की मौत हुई थी।

लेकिन बाद में film का नाम बदलकर Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace कर दिया गया।

Director Apoorva Lakhia ने इस बदलाव को सिर्फ एक overnight decision नहीं बताया था। India Today की report के अनुसार makers का कहना था कि film को सिर्फ एक conventional war movie की तरह नहीं देखा जाना चाहिए और इसका broader message peace से जुड़ा है।

यहीं से film के treatment को लेकर सवाल बढ़ने लगे।

China Angle क्यों बना सबसे बड़ा विवाद?

Film के पुराने version में China और Galwan conflict का direct connection था।

April 2026 में The Indian Express ने report किया था कि title change के साथ makers ने film में strategic बदलाव किए और China के direct references को कम करने तथा battlefield narrative को tone down करने की कोशिश की। Mumbai में reshoots की भी reports सामने आई थीं।

एक अलग report में Hindustan Times ने दावा किया था कि film के लगभग 40% हिस्से को reshoot किया गया और China तथा Galwan references को हटाने की कोशिश हुई। हालांकि यह भी media reports पर आधारित claim था, official confirmation नहीं।

इस बदलाव की timing ने controversy को और बढ़ाया, क्योंकि India और China के diplomatic relations में भी धीरे-धीरे बदलाव दिखाई दे रहे थे।

यानी सवाल यह बनने लगा:

क्या एक real military conflict पर बनी film बदलते diplomatic environment के हिसाब से अपना cinematic treatment बदल सकती है?

October 2026 में फिर क्यों उठा मामला?

3 October 2026 को The Indian Express ने report किया कि film के revised version को Information & Broadcasting Ministry से कथित तौर पर No Objection Certificate (NOC) मिल गया है।

Report के अनुसार revised film में India-China relationship को original version की तुलना में ज्यादा positive light में दिखाया गया है। हालांकि film को theatrical release के लिए अभी CBFC certification process से गुजरना बाकी था।

इसके कुछ दिनों बाद 12 October को Dhruv Rathee ने आरोप लगाया कि film को China के portrayal को soften करने के लिए reshoot किया गया था और इसके पीछे political pressure था। उनका बयान social media पर viral हुआ और Maatrubhumi फिर से political discussion का विषय बन गई।

यहां एक महत्वपूर्ण distinction है:

I&B Ministry का NOC और CBFC certification एक ही चीज नहीं हैं।

The Indian Express की July report में Salman Khan Films ने भी उन reports को खारिज किया था जिनमें कहा गया था कि CBFC ने film की certification रोक दी है। Production house ने कहा था कि film उस समय CBFC को submit ही नहीं हुई थी।

क्या Film का Anti-China Narrative पूरी तरह बदल गया?

Available reports से इतना जरूर पता चलता है कि film के treatment में significant changes हुए हैं।

पहले project का नाम ही Battle of Galwan था। बाद में title बदलकर Maatrubhumi किया गया और film के conflict-centric treatment को broader peace message की तरफ ले जाने की बात सामने आई।

लेकिन यह कहना कि film पूरी तरह China के खिलाफ narrative से हट गई है या किसी particular political direction में चली गई है, अभी premature होगा।

क्योंकि final version और उसका पूरा certified content public domain में उपलब्ध नहीं है।

यही वजह है कि इस controversy में reports, allegations और confirmed facts को अलग रखना जरूरी है।

Bollywood और Geopolitics का Connection नया नहीं

Indian cinema में wars, borders और national security लंबे समय से popular subjects रहे हैं।

लेकिन जब कहानी किसी recent real geopolitical conflict से directly जुड़ी हो, तब filmmakers के लिए challenge काफी बड़ा हो जाता है।

एक तरफ audience emotional और patriotic storytelling चाहती है।

दूसरी तरफ real-world diplomacy, military sensitivities और international relations भी मौजूद होते हैं।

Galwan clash कोई decades-old historical event नहीं है। यह 2020 में हुआ था और India-China relations पर इसका असर लंबे समय तक रहा।

इसलिए Maatrubhumi जैसी film के लिए creative storytelling और geopolitical sensitivity के बीच balance बनाना आसान नहीं है।

क्या Government को Film की Story में दखल देना चाहिए?

यही controversy का सबसे बड़ा political question है।

अगर किसी film में national security या international relations से जुड़ी sensitive material है, तो government agencies की scrutiny होना असामान्य नहीं है।

लेकिन अगर filmmakers पर narrative बदलने का दबाव डाला जाता है, तो दूसरा सवाल उठता है:

Creative freedom की सीमा कहां खत्म होती है और national interest की सीमा कहां से शुरू होती है?

Maatrubhumi controversy इसी grey area को सामने ला रही है।

हालांकि अभी तक public reports में government की तरफ से ऐसा definitive statement सामने नहीं आया है कि makers को China को positive दिखाने के लिए मजबूर किया गया था।

इसलिए political pressure को confirmed government action की तरह प्रस्तुत करना सही नहीं होगा।

Salman Khan के लिए भी बड़ा Test

Maatrubhumi Salman Khan के लिए सिर्फ एक और film नहीं है।

Actor पहली बार इतने sensitive contemporary military subject से जुड़े बड़े theatrical project में दिखाई दे रहे हैं।

Film के सामने तीन अलग-अलग challenges हैं:

पहला — Content Challenge:
क्या audience एक real military conflict को fictionalised cinematic treatment में accept करेगी?

दूसरा — Political Challenge:
क्या film India-China relationship को लेकर अलग-अलग political opinions के बीच controversy से बच पाएगी?

तीसरा — Commercial Challenge:
क्या Salman Khan की star power और patriotic theme film को theatrical audience तक बड़े scale पर पहुंचा पाएगी?

इन तीनों का जवाब release के बाद ही मिलेगा।

क्या Maatrubhumi सिर्फ War Film है?

शायद यही इस project का सबसे interesting aspect है।

अगर makers सिर्फ Galwan battle दिखाना चाहते, तो Battle of Galwan title काफी logical था।

लेकिन “May War Rest in Peace” subtitle यह संकेत देता है कि film का thematic focus सिर्फ युद्ध नहीं, बल्कि conflict के human cost और peace पर भी है।

India Today की April report में भी film को traditional war movie के बजाय sacrifice और peace-oriented narrative के रूप में describe किया गया था।

यही बदलाव अब debate का हिस्सा बन चुका है।

कुछ viewers इसे mature storytelling मान सकते हैं।

कुछ इसे original narrative को dilute करने के रूप में देख सकते हैं।

और कुछ इसे changing geopolitical environment के हिसाब से practical filmmaking decision मान सकते हैं।

Bottom Line

Maatrubhumi की controversy सिर्फ Salman Khan की नई film की controversy नहीं है।

यह Bollywood, geopolitics, government scrutiny, creative freedom और India-China relations के intersection का मामला बन चुकी है।

Film ने Battle of Galwan से Maatrubhumi: May War Rest in Peace तक का सफर तय किया है। इस दौरान title change, reported reshoots, China references में बदलाव और revised narrative की खबरें सामने आई हैं।

अब October 2026 में Dhruv Rathee के allegations ने एक नया political layer जोड़ दिया है। लेकिन जब तक filmmakers या government इस specific allegation पर स्पष्ट आधिकारिक जवाब नहीं देते, इसे allegation ही माना जाना चाहिए, established fact नहीं।

असल सवाल अब यह है:

क्या Maatrubhumi एक ऐसी patriotic film बनेगी जो war से ज्यादा peace की बात करेगी, या फिर इसके लगातार बदलते narrative के कारण controversy ही इसकी सबसे बड़ी पहचान बन जाएगी?

इसका जवाब film के final version और theatrical release के बाद ही साफ होगा।
