In a heart wrecking incident
a 14 day old baby girl who was tested positive for Covid-19 lost her battle of life in Gujarat’s Surat on Thursday night.
In a statement issued by Diamond Hospital the infant was born with the infection on April 1 as her mother had also contracted the disease.
While the child’s mother was shifted to another hospital, the newborn was under intensive treatment and was also administered Remdesivir injection when her condition started deteriorating.
The hospital said the baby was on ventilator support. Former mayor of Surat Jagdish Patel, who had recently recovered from coronavirus, donated his blood plasma for the infant’s treatment ,as per inputs from PTI.
This death should not be seen in isolation,it should be an alarm bell for medical fraternity.
Surat city on Thursday registered 1,551 new cases of coronavirus and 26 casualties.
