All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) submitted a memorandum to Priyanka Gandhi against power sector privatisation policies, against outsourcing & for Old Pension Scheme and Regularisation of contract workers.

AIPEF team led by Chairman Shailendra Dubey discussed in length the issues with Priyanka Gandhi last night at Raibareilly concerning power sector and handed over memorandum to her. The other members of the delegation were Rajeev Singh , H N Pandey ,Ajay dewadi, P K Pandey and Reena Tripathi.
AIPEF informed that Priyanka Gandhi assured the delegation that Congress Party will oppose the transfer of public sector property to private sector and they will strengthen the state role power sector. When Federation apprised the black mailing of public sector banks and state power utilities by the big industrial houses in the name of stressed assets she informed that congress will investigate all the scandals.

Regarding restoration of old pension scheme she informed that a supplementary manifesto will be issued and that will also cover regular recruitment and regularization of existing contractual staff.
The Federation in its memorandum has demanded that a high-powered committee with representatives’ of all stakeholders including common consumers and power engineers/employees be set up to review the present situation. The unification of unbundled electricity boards is the need of hour for better co-ordination and to avoid wasteful expenditure. This is very critical since a new Government would be taking over shortly and it would be prudent to resolve some of the long standing problems. The most critical of these is the review of the impact of the Electricity Act, 2003 and attempt to further amend it with the intention to facilitate privatisation of power supply by segregating carriage & content.
This information was issued in a press note by the federation.
