India में शुरू हो चुका है AI Infrastructure का अगला बड़ा Race

Artificial Intelligence की दुनिया में अब competition सिर्फ बेहतर AI models बनाने तक सीमित नहीं है। अगली बड़ी race compute, chips, data centres, electricity और connectivity की है।

इसी वजह से India में AI infrastructure को लेकर तेजी से investment बढ़ रहा है। Amazon, Google और Microsoft जैसी global technology companies देश में बड़े-scale data centres और AI infrastructure तैयार कर रही हैं।

India सरकार भी देश को global AI infrastructure hub के रूप में position करना चाहती है। लेकिन इस growth के साथ एक दूसरा सवाल भी तेजी से सामने आया है—इन विशाल data centres के लिए कितनी जमीन, बिजली और पानी चाहिए और इसका local communities पर क्या असर पड़ेगा?

Reuters की 9 October 2026 की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक Amazon, Google और Microsoft जैसे technology giants के बड़े investments के बीच India में कुछ locations पर local resistance भी सामने आया है। Residents ने water, power, land, deforestation और noise जैसे concerns उठाए हैं।

Amazon का India AI Infrastructure में बड़ा Bet

Amazon ने June 2026 में India में 2030 तक अपने total investment commitment को $48 billion तक बढ़ाने का ऐलान किया था।

इसमें अतिरिक्त $13 billion AI और cloud infrastructure के लिए रखा गया है। यह investment AWS की Mumbai और Hyderabad data-centre capacity को expand करने में इस्तेमाल किया जाएगा।

Amazon का कहना है कि उसका infrastructure startups, enterprises और government organisations को AI chips, cloud services और managed AI capabilities उपलब्ध कराने में मदद करेगा।

यानी Amazon का लक्ष्य सिर्फ shopping business को support करना नहीं है। India में AWS infrastructure अब AI economy की backbone बनने की दिशा में बढ़ रहा है।

Google ने Visakhapatnam में बनाया AI Hub

Google का India AI infrastructure plan भी काफी बड़ा है।

Company ने Andhra Pradesh के Visakhapatnam में अपना पहला India AI hub develop करने के लिए लगभग $15 billion का investment announce किया है।

Google के अनुसार यह investment 2026 से 2030 के बीच किया जाएगा और इसका उद्देश्य gigawatt-scale compute infrastructure, subsea connectivity और AI capabilities को India में build करना है।

इस project की importance इसलिए भी ज्यादा है क्योंकि AI models को train और run करने के लिए massive computing capacity चाहिए।

यानी आने वाले समय में India में सिर्फ software engineers ही नहीं, बल्कि AI infrastructure engineers, cloud specialists, chip infrastructure professionals और data-centre operations experts की demand भी बढ़ सकती है।

Microsoft भी AI Data Centre Race में पीछे नहीं

Microsoft ने August 2026 में Hyderabad में अपना सबसे बड़ा India data-centre hub launch किया।

इसके साथ India में Microsoft के cloud regions की संख्या चार हो गई—Pune, Chennai, Mumbai और Hyderabad।

September में Microsoft ने India South Central region को Asia और Global South के लिए strategic hub के रूप में position किया।

Company के अनुसार India के उसके data-centre regions अब AI-enabled infrastructure के साथ तैयार हैं और Hyderabad region में high-efficiency mechanical cooling इस्तेमाल की जा रही है, जिससे cooling के लिए effectively zero water use किया जा सकता है।

इससे साफ है कि Microsoft India को सिर्फ cloud market नहीं, बल्कि AI computing hub के रूप में देख रहा है।

इतना बड़ा Investment आखिर क्यों?

AI models जितने बड़े होते जा रहे हैं, उन्हें train और operate करने के लिए उतनी ही ज्यादा computing power चाहिए।

एक सामान्य website या mobile application की तुलना में generative AI services को massive GPU infrastructure, high-speed networking और लगातार available electricity चाहिए।

इसलिए AI economy की foundation तीन चीजों पर टिकती जा रही है:

Compute + Power + Data Infrastructure

जिस देश के पास पर्याप्त AI compute होगा, वहां companies को AI services deploy करने, models train करने और enterprise applications scale करने में competitive advantage मिल सकता है।

यही वजह है कि India सिर्फ AI software ecosystem बनाने की कोशिश नहीं कर रहा, बल्कि उसके पीछे का physical infrastructure भी develop कर रहा है।

India को इससे क्या फायदा हो सकता है?

AI data-centre boom का पहला फायदा digital infrastructure को मिलेगा।

बड़े data centres के साथ fibre networks, power infrastructure, cloud services और supporting technology ecosystem भी expand होते हैं।

दूसरा फायदा jobs और skills का हो सकता है।

Data centres को operate करने के लिए electrical engineers, cooling specialists, network engineers, cybersecurity professionals, cloud architects, facility managers और AI infrastructure experts की जरूरत होती है।

तीसरा फायदा Indian startups और enterprises को मिल सकता है।

अगर high-end AI compute India में ही उपलब्ध होता है, तो companies को global infrastructure पर पूरी तरह depend नहीं रहना पड़ेगा।

India की AI Economy के लिए Data Centres क्यों Critical हैं?

India में AI adoption तेजी से बढ़ रहा है।

लेकिन AI application बनाना और AI infrastructure operate करना दो अलग-अलग चीजें हैं।

एक startup chatbot या AI agent बना सकता है, लेकिन उसके पीछे GPUs, cloud infrastructure, networking और storage की जरूरत होती है।

यानी जिस तरह highways और electricity industrial economy के लिए जरूरी होते हैं, उसी तरह data centres AI economy के लिए infrastructure layer बनते जा रहे हैं।

Business Standard के अनुसार India में AI data centres की electricity demand 2031-32 तक 26.3 GW तक बढ़ सकती है।

यही आंकड़ा बताता है कि AI boom सिर्फ technology sector का issue नहीं है। इसका connection सीधे India’s energy policy से भी जुड़ रहा है।

लेकिन सबसे बड़ा सवाल: बिजली कहां से आएगी?

Data centres 24×7 operate करते हैं।

AI workloads के लिए high-performance GPUs और servers को लगातार electricity चाहिए। इसलिए data-centre expansion के साथ power generation और transmission infrastructure पर भी pressure बढ़ सकता है।

India में renewable energy की demand भी इसी कारण बढ़ रही है।

एक recent industry analysis के अनुसार data centres को support करने के लिए renewable capacity requirement 2026 के लगभग 16.1 GW से बढ़कर 2030 तक 32.4 GW हो सकती है।

इसका मतलब AI infrastructure और clean-energy transition एक-दूसरे से increasingly connected हो रहे हैं।

Water का मुद्दा क्यों उठा?

Data centres में servers लगातार heat generate करते हैं। इसलिए cooling infrastructure critical होता है।

कुछ facilities water-intensive cooling systems use कर सकती हैं, जबकि कई companies water consumption कम करने के लिए air cooling और advanced mechanical cooling जैसी technologies अपना रही हैं।

Amazon का कहना है कि उसके operational India data centres cooling के लिए drinking water का इस्तेमाल नहीं करते और air-cooled chillers का उपयोग किया जाता है।

Microsoft भी India South Central region में high-efficiency cooling को highlight कर रहा है।

फिर भी local communities के लिए concern सिर्फ data centre की direct water consumption नहीं है। सवाल यह भी है कि किसी particular region में power generation, construction और wider industrial infrastructure मिलकर local resources पर कितना pressure डालेंगे।

Mumbai से Andhra Pradesh तक Local Resistance

AI infrastructure boom के साथ India में local opposition भी दिखाई दे रही है।

Reuters के अनुसार Mumbai के आसपास Amazon के एक बड़े data-centre project को लेकर residents ने deforestation, water और power pressure तथा noise जैसे concerns उठाए हैं। Reuters ने बताया कि 1,000 से ज्यादा Mumbai residents ने project को लेकर protest का दावा किया है।

Andhra Pradesh में Google के लगभग $15 billion AI project को लेकर भी concerns सामने आए हैं।

इससे एक important policy question पैदा होता है:

क्या AI infrastructure development सिर्फ investment और jobs के आधार पर तय होना चाहिए, या local environmental impact को भी equally महत्व मिलना चाहिए?

AI Boom बनाम Local Environment

India के सामने challenge simple नहीं है।

एक तरफ देश को AI infrastructure चाहिए ताकि India global technology race में पीछे न रहे।

दूसरी तरफ data centres के लिए land, electricity, water और connectivity चाहिए।

अगर infrastructure ऐसे areas में लगाया जाता है जहां पहले से water stress या power constraints हैं, तो local residents के concerns बढ़ना स्वाभाविक है।

इसलिए future में data-centre policy में सिर्फ investment amount देखना पर्याप्त नहीं होगा।

Resource availability + Environmental impact + Local consultation + Employment + Energy source

इन सभी factors को साथ में देखना होगा।

क्या Data Centre Boom India को AI Hub बना सकता है?

Potential काफी बड़ा है।

India के पास massive digital population, strong IT talent pool, growing startup ecosystem और तेजी से बढ़ता cloud adoption है।

अगर इसके साथ domestic AI compute capacity भी तेजी से बढ़ती है, तो India सिर्फ AI applications का consumer market नहीं रहेगा।

वह AI infrastructure और services का regional hub भी बन सकता है।

लेकिन इसके लिए reliable power, high-speed connectivity, skilled workforce, predictable regulation और sustainable infrastructure जरूरी होंगे।

Data Centres के आसपास नई Economy बन सकती है

AI infrastructure का impact सिर्फ technology companies तक सीमित नहीं रहेगा।

Data-centre ecosystem के आसपास कई industries grow कर सकती हैं:

अगर data centres clean energy का ज्यादा उपयोग करें, water-efficient cooling अपनाएं, local employment create करें और communities के साथ transparent consultation करें, तो resistance कम किया जा सकता है।

Technology companies के लिए भी यह सिर्फ CSR का मुद्दा नहीं है।

Long-term AI infrastructure तभी stable रहेगा जब business growth और local resource security के बीच balance बनाया जाए।

Conclusion: India की AI Race अब Servers तक पहुंच गई है

India की AI story अब सिर्फ ChatGPT जैसे tools, AI startups या software developers की कहानी नहीं रही।

अब इसके पीछे एक विशाल physical infrastructure तैयार हो रहा है।

Amazon Mumbai और Hyderabad में AWS capacity बढ़ा रहा है। Google Visakhapatnam में $15 billion AI hub बना रहा है। Microsoft Hyderabad समेत India के अपने cloud infrastructure को AI workloads के लिए expand कर रहा है।

लेकिन इस race के साथ water, electricity, land और environmental impact जैसे सवाल भी तेजी से सामने आ रहे हैं।

यही India के AI infrastructure boom की सबसे बड़ी चुनौती है:

क्या India दुनिया के लिए AI compute hub बन सकता है, बिना local communities और natural resources पर असंतुलित pressure डाले?

आने वाले वर्षों में India की AI success सिर्फ इस बात से तय नहीं होगी कि यहां कितने AI models बनते हैं।

यह भी तय करेगा कि उन models को power देने वाला infrastructure कितना बड़ा, reliable और sustainable है।
